Fleurisme
I'llony is not
a company that sells flowers.
Through flowers, we bring beauty back into daily life, settle the mind, and offer hours that stay in a person's memory.
We are florists, of course. We buy flowers, bind them, arrange them, deliver them. Each of those is the concrete work of a flower shop. But what we truly deliver is not the flowers alone.
A day made a little richer because there are flowers in it. A person who receives them feeling that they are cherished. A quiet return to oneself, a step away from haste and unease, in the time spent looking at them.
We deliver these invisible values through something visible: the flower. For I'llony, a flower carries a thought before it is anything to be sold. That thought is Fleurisme, the philosophy of living with flowers.
ASHIYA AOYAMA PARIS
Our Aesthetic
The sensuality of a flower,
and the balance of nature.
Sensuality in a flower is not showiness. It is not costly material, nor rare blooms lined up. It is the presence of life the flower already holds.
The tension just before it opens.
The bend of a stem. The layering of petals.
The shadow when light falls on it.
The distance to the flower beside it.
A face turned slightly toward you.
The space left by not arranging it perfectly.
There is a reason why some flowers stop the eye. It is not only a beauty that can be explained. Something the heart answers before reason does. Something that draws you without your knowing why. That is where the sensuality of a flower lies.

Beauty
A beautiful flower is not
simply a tidy one.
A flower where life is felt
Worked by human hands, yet with nothing of nature lost.
A flower that hides its technique
The skill is there, but it is never put on display.
A flower that deepens the longer you look
It catches you in an instant and grows deeper the longer you stay with it.

Three Stars
What we aim to be is
a three-star flower shop.
I'llony does not aim to be a large flower shop, nor one whose only purpose is to sell a great deal.
Just as a three-star restaurant is not merely a place to satisfy hunger, a three-star flower shop is not merely a place to buy flowers. There is technique. There is an aesthetic. There is a philosophy. There is tension. There is hospitality. And there is an experience that stays in the memory.
In a three-star restaurant, one plate holds everything: the ingredient, the grower, the cooking, the scent, the vessel, the room, the service, even the passage of time. We want to stand before flowers in the same way.

ATSUSHI TANIGUCHI
A beautiful flower is one where life is felt. Worked by human hands, yet with nothing of nature lost.
Born in Wakayama in 1975. Founded the shop in Kobe in 2000, then opened Ashiya in 2002, Minami-Aoyama in 2009 and Paris in 2015.
Six photo books, more than 60,000 copies in all. In 2019 he was invited to teach a master class at FLOWER SCHOOL NEW YORK. What was learned in France, read through a Japanese sensibility and expressed as our own flowers. As a flower shop born in Japan, we send our work out into the world.

Our Business
We keep being florists
at the centre of everything.
Every part of I'llony was born from the flower shop. Three shops, and the artisans who stand in them. The skill and the eye sharpened there become teaching, travel, spaces, vessels. Nothing has been brought in from outside.
